Bringing Hope After Typhoon Tino

Typhoon Tino—the third and strongest typhoon of the year—brought major wind, rain, and flooding across our region last week in the Philippines. After a massive fire, volcano eruption, and large earthquakes, the Central Philippines has been hit hard over the past few months and it leave people picking up the pieces of their lives yet again.  Thousands of families have been displaced or left without basic necessities. Current reports indicate that at least 111 people across the island have tragically lost their lives.

For us at Kingdom Legacy Ministries (KLM), this disaster struck close to home. These are the same cities we visit every month—the same roads we travel to bring food to children and families. Many of the homes we pass on our feeding routes are now damaged or were underwater.

In the last few days, KLM has already distributed 20 relief packages, each containing food, clean water, pillows, and bed mats to help families sleep safely and comfortably. Another 26 packages are planned for distribution next week as additional funding comes in.

Our headquarters sustained some flooding and roof damage to the church, but we’re grateful that our staff and local families are safe. However, Dennis has not yet been able to reach his dad and brother on a neighboring island, as communication lines and internet service are still down. Please join us in praying for their safety and for all who are still unaccounted for.

Even in the middle of loss and uncertainty, we’re reminded that hope rises when God’s people respond. Kingdom Legacy Ministries continues to provide meals and essential supplies for children and families in Talisay and nearby communities, trusting God to multiply resources as we serve.

Please continue to pray for the Philippines as recovery efforts move forward.

Thanks as always for standing with us in times like these,

Dennis and Emily Alejo

KLM Directors

Over the past eight years, Kingdom Legacy Ministries has grown from feeding just 30 children to now reaching 3,000 children across multiple communities in the Philippines.

What began with one local church has now expanded to include 15 Bible studies across 8 feeding locations. With this growth, the need for more strong, Christ-centered leadership has become clear.

Through prayer, our team sensed that this year needed to be about investing in leaders—people who could help nurture both the physical and spiritual growth of their communities. In partnership with our friends at Youth With A Mission Talisay14 individuals are now participating in a three-week leadership course focused on building relationships and leading discipleship groups effectively.

We are so encouraged to see new leaders rising up—men and women eager to help others grow in their relationship with the Lord and to bring the Gospel right into their neighborhoods.

Feeding is still at the heart of what we do. It meets a basic human need, but it also opens the door for something deeper. Each meal shared becomes a gateway for hope, relationship, and transformation. As we feed families physically, we also get to offer them something spiritual to “chew on” — the truth and love of Christ.

Would you join us in praying for these 14 new leaders—that God would strengthen, equip, and multiply their impact in the communities they serve?

Christmas is coming!

“Christmas Is Coming, Jesus Is Coming!”

It’s something we’ve been hearing our little two-year-old say lately. As Christmas trees go up and we walk through some of our favorite stores, we see reminders of the season everywhere. Watching his eyes light up brings us so much joy as parents — and even more, knowing he’s beginning to understand that this season is about celebrating the love, joy, and hope that Jesus brings.

Christmas truly is coming, and we want to help share that same message — that Jesus has come and will come again — with many of our little friends in the Philippines. Many of them are just as excited for Christmas as Benji, but unlike him, they may never have received a gift or heard the true story of Jesus. We’d love to help change that!

For about $10, we can give a child a Christmas gift that includes both practical items like toothpaste and a toothbrush, and fun surprises like toys and candy. Each package is designed to meet basic needs, bring joy, and share the true meaning of Christmas.

🎁 Christmas is coming — and you can be the reason a child smiles and hears a message of hope this year.
