Education- An important link in helping to break the cycle of poverty.
There is that old proverb that says, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”
Although it is said that this phrase comes from Chinese tradition, we see it illustrated many times throughout the Bible in the way that Jesus discipled his followers. In Matthew 4:19, Jesus is walking near the shore of the Sea of Galilee, when he sees two brothers, Simon and Andrew, throwing out their fishing nets. Jesus says them, “follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”
At KLM, our goal through helping to sponsor children going back to school is that they would both hear and know about the goodness of Jesus and that they would dream big dreams for their life as they head back to school each year. With a basic education comes the chance at a different future than what they might have otherwise had- and with Jesus leading their life adventure, there’s no telling what these kids can do!
And this year, you all helped us to send our biggest number back yet- 100 of our sweeties!!!!! We are super thrilled to share some of the pictures and faces from that day to see where your dollars went to impact these young lives.
As we continue to look for ways to help teach these kiddos to fish along with making sure their basic needs are met, we are so blessed with the generosity of our friends and partners that come alongside to make it possible.
So THANK YOU for your investment into education and sharing the Hope of Jesus, but also your investment into making a major life difference in the lives of these children.
