The beautiful island of Cebu, Philippines is home to a vibrant culture and warm, welcoming people. However, for many families and children living in poverty, life can be a daily struggle for survival. This is where Kingdom Legacy Ministries (KLM) comes in – a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing hope and transformation to communities both locally and globally.

Founded in 2018 by Dennis and Emily Alejo, KLM is rooted in Dennis’ own story of growing up scavenging for food and materials in the dumpsite at the age of 8. Through the gift of a hot meal and the sharing of the Gospel, Dennis received hope and transformation that led him to start KLM with his wife Emily, combining their hearts for children and community transformation.

KLM’s daily operation is based in Cebu, where they visit multiple feeding locations around the community to provide healthy meals, fun and games, and a message of hope to impoverished children – known as “batang basura” or “stinky kids” due to their need to comb through the garbage for food. KLM’s local organizers, Jenny and Banjo, who are also Dennis’ brother-in-law and sister, have even planted a small church next to the dumpsite to provide further support and encouragement to the families and children they encounter.

Through their feeding program, KLM is able to reach 600 children each week, providing nourishment and love to those who need it most. In addition, KLM sponsors children to attend school and supports job creation for families in need, offering a pathway to a brighter future and breaking the cycle of poverty.

But KLM’s impact extends far beyond the practical support they provide. Through their message of hope and transformation, KLM is inspiring a generation of young people to believe in themselves and their potential, to dream big and pursue their passions. KLM is building a community of love and acceptance, where every child is valued and encouraged to thrive.

KLM’s goal this year is to reach 1200 children weekly and expand their feeding program to multiple times a month, as well as purchase a kitchen facility and partner with other community organizations. With the support of generous donors and volunteers, KLM is making a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve, one child at a time.

In Cebu, Philippines, KLM is a beacon of hope and transformation for the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society. Through their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to serving others, KLM is creating a brighter future for children and families in need, and inspiring all of us to do the same.
